I think I understand exactly what you are saying and it makes a lot of sense to me. My inbox is loaded with all kinds of wild offers and I know some are over the top. And it would be nice to clear out and unsubscribe to a lot of the email I am getting. Thanks.

It's a task we all need to do from time to time, Andre - I get up to about 150 e-zines, then have to pare it back to about 100 when I find I'm not having time to read every one that I want to. It's often hard deciding who to cut and who to keep, until you start thinking in terms of who's helping me and who's just helping themselves TO me. ;-) -DC. </blockquote>

Great points. Even with segmenting of lists any specific offer is usually only applicable to a % of the list.

Providing people with why it would help and who it will help makes their decision easier and helps teach the rest what it does.

That's the trick these days, eh Mike? Getting a good strong content-filled e-mail through the filters while keeping it short enough to meet today's 'sound bite' attention spans. Your e-zine is a good example for people to follow, and one of the ones I read every day. -DC. </blockquote>

Like anyone who has been working online for even just a few days, I see those types of hype filled emails all the time. It takes a bit of practice though to be able to quickly see which ones are true hype and which are worth taking a longer look at.

Good point, Joel - and we should point out that it does get easier once you've been online as long as you & I have. You just start to recognize the patterns that the hype tends to take versus the legitimate e-mails. -DC. </blockquote>
